A project with a challenge
The design challenge in this project was to make a small dining set with a table and chairs that fit into a small breakfast nook. My client had a preference for a country look and light wood tones so with this information I began.
A project with a challenge
As a windsor chair maker I would tend to veer in the direction of windsor design. That being the construction of chairs with the seat as the anchor point of both legs and back as well as arms ( if included). For the country look I stayed to a simple turned, tapered leg with a frame seat featuring a rush seat and a simple back with a curved crest rail that has a bit of arch to give a subtle but distinct look to the back.
As a side note I first tried to design these chairs on SKETCH UP but got frustrated and decided to stay in the 18th century where I belong and got out the old pencil and paper where I will happily stay from now on.
